Soda Creek Access to Cache Creek (Map 4)
Distance: 6km. Elevation gain: 125m Elevation loss: 425m. Trail is marked with orange blazes and cairns. Two blazes indicates change of direction. The north side of the Beehive Creek valley is also marked with poles wedged in rock cairns and flagging.
From the cairn where the access trail meets the GDT, continue south. The great hanging cliffs of Beehive dominate, while on the ridges to the east, the termites have been busy (although these days I suppose we're to blame the mountain pine beetle for all the 'necessary' logging). The Livingstone Range rises beyond Cyclamen Ridge on the other side of the Oldman Valley.

Beehive Mountain from the campsite meadow
Across the old rock slide, the Trail climbs with one big zig zag to cross the saddle between Beehive Mountain and a rocky outcrop to the east. In forest, the Trail dips down to cross a creek on log bridge, then rounds a pond to emerge beside a cairn on a small ridge, providing a superb view of the Beehive Creek valley. It's possible to charge straight down this slope to another creek, but the Trail proper goes left a few metres along the ridge, then turns right where a cairn blocks an excellent game trail continuing on.

Descend about 10m to another cairn (flagging on old stump), then turn right on a path that leads to a creek crossing just below mature fir tree (flagging). The route now zig zags downhill from pole-cairn to pole-cairn (flagging). At the bottom of this slope, look for a rock cairn with a good trail leading right into a small meadow bowl. The Trail is now clear as it leads more gently across country and downhill to a bridged crossing of Beehive Creek.
